Textual analysis for the film, 'Momento'

The first few seconds feature the production credits in blue on a black background there is classical type music playing over the video

Then it shows footage of a man shooting another man in the face, taking a photo and developing it all in reverse, the same music is played through out

The shot is a extreme close up it starts with the man shaking the fully developed photo and the photo getting more distorted until it turns black and he then puts it back in his camera, it uses a mid shot to do this it then cuts to 2 men having an argument and one shooting the other the music is playing still but it does play some very sharp sounds like gunshots, screams and camera flashes,

There is a scene of what looks like blood running up the screen.

It takes place in what looks like a bathroom; the shooter seems to be sad for what he has done.

There is an establishing shot with all the objects scattered and then they all fly back into place and there is a scream.

The genre of the film seems to be a thriller/horror. From the music played in the long establishing shot you immediately realise it is going to be quite a sad scene/film seeing as there is a death almost instantly it  is very cautious and weary

what i have learnt from doing this textual  analysis:
*i was looking at the framing of shots and use of noise mainly and the film monento has very good sound effects. there is loud gunshots followed by distorted screams and shouts.
* it also helped expand my knowledge of the sort of codes and conventions to typically expect od an action thriller.
