media institutions:
The type media institution that would produce our film would be a big company that produces all the new feature films. I belive our idea has the potential to be a big feature film. If you look at some of film produced in a similar genre they are usally produced by someone like '20th century fox' or 'universal'. our film has kept to the regulations of a media text of this age catagory. there is little offensive content in the film, mild language and aliens are the only threats.
The bbfc regulations for violence are:
'Violence: violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable. Strong sadistic or sexualised violence is also unlikely to be acceptable. There may be detailed verbal references to sexual violence but any portrayal of sexual violence must be discreet and have a strong contextual justification.'
We meet the criteria here as we only have little, mild violence. We do not dwell on the violence as just after the 'kick scene' happens it fades to black.
The bbfc regulations for offensive language are:
'language: There may be frequent use of strong language (for example, ‘fuck’). The strongest terms (for example, ‘cunt’) may be acceptable if justified by the context. Aggressive or repeated use of the strongest language is unlikely to be acceptable.'
we also meet the criteria because we use mild language and not regularly. In the opening two minutes there are no swearwords, however the full film would contain them, they would stay within these guidelines.
